Major Reasons Why Your Car Radiator Fan is Not Working
The combustion chamber of the engine is a place where explosions take place constantly and that is why the engine is prone to excessive heating. In order to prevent the engine from overheating coolants are used. These coolants flow through a radiator into the engine. Here the primary job of the radiator is to keep the coolant cool, so that it can absorb more heating upon returning back into the engine.
It is easy to understand that the radiator fan is there to keep the coolant’s temperature under check at all times. As an informed car user, you must make sure that the radiator fan is working fine, otherwise it can cause serious damages and cost you a lot of money.
Radiator suppliers say that the radiator fan makes a whirring sound when it is working fine. This sound is easily noticeable. You must know that the radiator fan doesn’t start spinning upon ignition. It takes a while and starts working when it is instructed to do so by the ECU. If you do not hear the whirring sound, you must immediately check the radiator fan.

Old Wiring
If you observe that the car radiator fan is not working even when the car is heating up, then old fan wiring could be the culprit. Unplug all the wires from the radiator and check them using a voltmeter. There are times when old wiring succumbs to constant heating and needs to be replaced. If the wiring is perfectly fine, then you must check the relay to see if it is properly supplying electricity to the wires.
Broken Fuse
According to automotive radiator manufacturers in India, broken fuse is sometimes the root cause behind the non-functioning of your car radiator fan. It doesn’t cost you a lot of money, so if you find a broken fuse you must immediately replace it.
Temperature Sensor Not Working
As we discussed earlier, the ECU signals the radiator fan to start. The ECU receives a signal from the temperature sensor and when it fails to do so due to a faulty temperature sensor; it is unable to instruct the radiator fan to turn on. This issue can be resolved either by cleaning the temperature sensor or replacing it, if need be. Car radiator manufacturers suggest that you should replace the sensor only if you know how to do it, otherwise you should take it to a nearby garage.
